Sitrus, LLC submits Card Selector for Android platform to Higgins Open Source Project

RANDOLPH, NJ (December, 1 2009)

Sitrus LLC, a software services company that delivers custom Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications to enterprise software vendors, announced today that it has submitted code to the Higgins Open Source Project that implements Card Selector for the Android™ Platform.

Higgins is an open source Internet identity framework designed to integrate identity, profile, and social relationship information across multiple sites, applications, and devices. Higgins is not a protocol; it is software infrastructure to support a consistent user experience that works with all popular digital identity protocols. Code submitted by Sitrus continues to extend the core functionality of the Higgins project to Android™. With this submission, this important element of identity management functionality will be available for all users of the Android platform.

Android is an operating system for mobile devices. It was built as an open system on the Linux Kernel so that developers could create compelling mobile applications that take advantage of handsets. Sitrus has developed code that allows users to create Information Card credentials on their personal computers and then use them on their mobile phones. This opens opportunities for Android to more fully use capabilities of Information Cards.

“The new code takes another step in extending key Information Card functionality available on Windows or Linux to the Android platform.” said Vadym Synakh, Vice President of Engineering for Sitrus. "At Sitrus, we believe that expanding identity management to handheld devices is an important direction for the Higgins project.”
